Join DO40 for Karaoke and Community

Dancers Over 40 is hosting a special free karaoke event in conjunction with Columbia University’s Research Unit and the cast of George M! on Thursday, May 28, from 7–9 p.m. at RPM Underground (lower level).

The evening will feature karaoke, stories, songs, free food, and free raffles, along with information about “Project Beethoven,” an investigational vaccine study from Pfizer and Columbia University.

We thought it was the perfect opportunity to reunite members of the George M! cast, especially since our larger George M! celebration has been postponed from this July to Spring 2027.

About Project Beethoven

Project Beethoven is a research study focused on preventing C. diff infection. C. diff is a contagious bacteria that infects the colon and can cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, and other serious health complications. Severe cases can lead to hospitalization and may become life-threatening.

Researchers hope this investigational vaccine will help the body’s immune system defend against C. diff infection and better protect those at greatest risk.

Learn More from Columbia University

Jorge Benitez and Henry Peralta will discuss how to enroll in the study, who is eligible to participate, and details about the $750 stipend offered throughout the trial. The study is open to individuals who have not had C. diff infection.

John Sefakis has served on the Community Advisory Board for Columbia’s Research Unit for 25 years. The board helps oversee and review vaccine trials for the community, including studies related to COVID-19 and HIV. Information about those trials will also be available during the event.

Pfizer’s nickname for the study, “Project Beethoven,” inspired the musical theme of the evening, bringing everything back to singing and karaoke.

Featuring the Cast of George M!

Joining us for the evening will be George M! cast members James Dybas, Loni Ackerman, Patti Mariano, and Jill O'Hara.

Jonelle Allen and Ron Young will join us for the larger George M! celebration in Spring 2027 at St. Luke's Theatre., thanks to producer Ed Gaynes.

RSVP

Admission is free, but RSVPs are appreciated at dancersover40@aol.com so we can plan for food and seating.
