More than 25 people joined us for our annual September membership meeting on Zoom on Monday, September 14. Many additional members sent their regrets due to scheduling conflicts.

Recorded September 14, 2026, this annual Zoom meeting brought together more than 25 Dancers Over 40 members to reconnect, share updates and discuss upcoming events.

The meeting gave members an opportunity to reconnect, share updates and learn more about several upcoming DO40 events.

Member News and Upcoming Events

DO40 member Melanie Futorian spoke about her dance company featuring performers over age 50—that’s their age, not the number of performers!

Loni Ackerman-Kennedy discussed DO40’s spring event, The Songs of Barry Kleinbort (With Dancing!), taking place May 3 at The Green Room at YOTEL.

DO40 member and upcoming Legacy Award honoree Anthony Marciona also joined the conversation. New members Kim Kokich—daughter of DO40 member Iva Withers—and Clarence Brooks introduced themselves, with Clarence sharing the news of his move back to New York City to perform.

We also discovered that several DO40 members are working on books and memoirs. Since DO40 loves a book signing at the Drama Book Shop, we hope to celebrate upcoming books from Kim Kokich, Larry Fuller, John Gilvey and Cheryl Clark!

Broadway Flea Market

The Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Flea Market, taking place Sunday, September 27, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., was very much on everyone’s mind.

DO40 will have seven tables, and we need plenty of volunteers to help transport, organize and sell our materials. Playbills are still arriving at DO40 Central by the thousands—sort of!

We have great items from The Prom and Moulin Rouge!, along with beautiful costumes from a variety of productions donated by DO40 member Susan Sigrist.

If you would like to donate materials or volunteer at our tables, please email dancersover40@aol.com.

The 2026 Legacy Awards

Anthony Marciona represented his fellow 2026 Legacy Award honorees Bill Nabel, Lenora Nemetz, Monica Tiller and Candace Tovar.

The evening will be hosted by one of our youngest members, Boudoir LeFleur, who performed in DO40’s 2010, 2013 and 2016 events beginning at just 28 years old!

The 2026 Legacy Awards will take place on December 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. at LIPS restaurant. Tickets are available now through Eventbrite.
